What’s new version 5? Everything!

Swackett has been re-imagined for modern macOS computers — small screens and large. We’ve given the famous Swackett people symbols (peeps) a new place to share their dynamic visual weather forecasts — and with the new PRO upgrade — Swackett peeps appear not only appropriately dressed for the weather, but suggesting weather-appropriate activities.

For the first time, Swackett works with the Touch Bar on your MacBook Pro. Also for the first time, Swackett now supports small screens without scrolling. And in PRO mode Swackett takes full advantage of large screens to showcase WeatherStation gauges, This Day in Weather History, and more.

  • Hello World! 🙂

Having Trouble With Your PRO Features?

Have your PRO features in Swackett for Mac suddenly disappeared?

The Cause

Swackett apps were acquired recently and — as a result — Apple had to do a “binary reassignment” on Swackett for macOS — from version 5.1.1 and forward.

This means an upgrade to 5.1.1 will install a brand new app on your hard drive.

In some cases — when an older version of Swackett exists in the Application folder on a hard drive — the App Store application will install new versions of Swackett in a folder in the same location (also named “Swackett”) — both the new version of Swackett and the old version remain installed.  As a result some users are launching the older versions of Swackett without being aware of it — and this can produce an unexpected experience.

The Solution

Make sure you only have one version of Swackett on your Mac.  Check the About Swackett… menu to verify which version you are running.

Making It Right

If you’ve been having trouble with your PRO features please know that we’re dedicated to making it right.  We are here for you. 🙂

Users who have reported PRO issues via our support site can request a free PROMO CODE that will grant them access to PRO features for life (a $9.99 value).

New 6-Panel Option for macOS

In June 2018 Swackett’s version 5-series included new PRO weather gauges originally designed for large screens. Never intended to be used on smaller screens — users made it clear they wanted to see these new gauges on any size screen.

We heard you. 🙂

Version 5.1 includes a new option adding 2 panels to the classic Swackett 4-panel design. These new panels house these PRO weather gauges on two different tabs — even on the smallest MacBooks.

Radar Imagery Zoom Magnification (Swackett PRO)

By popular demand we’ve carried forward the multiple radar views of specific location in Swackett PRO — with two different improvements:

  • These new view are now centered on your exact location.
  • The base imagery and radar overlays are high-resolution.

These views have been incredible popular in their simplicity and the value of the visual information they provide.

You can view Satellite imagery and radar (where available) by clicking Local Radar / Imagery… from the View Menu.

On larger screens if you make the default Swackett window taller a mini- Satellite strip will pop out and always be visible. Click on that to view multiple imagery views.
